Terms & Conditions:
Courses offered by The Underwater Academy will be run to the standard of the operating procedures below. All freediving instructors and assistants must be of AIDA instructor or AIDA 4* standard, or recognised equivalent. Students receiving accreditation must reach standards held by AIDA International for that level, with suitable execution to satisfy the Instructor of competency.
The underwater academy is run as a freediving school and training facility. As such, we include specialised equipment and services with our courses. Both our short courses and our extended multi day courses include:
- Rubber weight-belt and weight hire
- Johnline or lanyard (used for 3* and above)
- Pool entrance fees
- Safety kit hire
- Course materials
Although we do provide some equipment during the school and training sessions, it is up to potential candidates to bring the following:
- Wetsuit, fins, mask and snorkel, towel, sunscreen
- Transport to, from or between venues
Additional costs for boat hire will occur for 3* and 4* courses.
COURSE MATERIALS AND PAYMENT
Certification will occur after the candidate fulfils all requirements (or fulfils necessary requirements for lesser certification) and completes candidate application on the AIDA International website.
Course materials will be delivered in a confirmation email, once full payment has been made.
The Underwater Academy reserves the right to postpone course dates due to environmental conditions or lack of numbers; however in the event that a course is delayed due to insufficient numbers, the candidate is entitled to a full refund; if a suitable course date cannot be arranged within one (1) calendar month.
In the event that the ocean dependant part of the course is unable to be completed due to adverse environmental conditions, a suitable follow up date will be arranged within one calendar month. If a follow up date cannot be arranged, the customer will be eligible for full refund.
A failure to complete necessary tasks, or inability to complete tasks will not result in a refund, however, at instructor’s discretion, arrangements may be made for an additional day of instruction.
Non-attendance, or cancellation within one week of the course start date will not result in a refund.
Cancellations made more than 21 days prior to the commencement of the course date will be eligible for a full refund. Cancellations made later than this will forfeit full course costs.
